In my previous post, I discussed panel interview and how it is conducted. Now, let me share with you some tips to help you get a high grade on the panel interview score card:

1. Establish eye contact. Look in the eye of the person giving the question to show your sincerity and alertness.
2. Make sure you know what’s on your resume. They read your resume and therefore, interview questions may come from it so make sure you know your resume well.
3. Show confidence. The most important thing of all is to appear confident in front of the panel.
4. Prepare good questions for the interviewers. After you have been questioned, it will be your turn next. Make sure you have good questions in mind that could impress them.

Panel interview is meeting more than one interviewer and interacting with them one at a time. Many of these interviewers might be your future boss in the job you are entering and planning to get in. Panel interviews were first used in health care industries and becoming more popular in corporate sectors nowadays. The Advantage of panel interviews is that they are more reliable and job-related since the panel members are accountable to each other. To the applicant panel interviews is less time-consuming, and can give you an opportunity to see how the staffs work together. The Disadvantage is that the more the panel the more pressure because the questions are not coming from only one interviewee, and interview question may be rapidly paced and ask. Not only one pair of eyes is looking at you but more than that so it may confuse someone answering the thrown question. After the interview, do not forget to send a separate thank you to the each panel member.

I just found out that there are still series of preparation you need to do before you face your job interview. And its conducting a company background research. So that you can prepare yourself to the question the interviewer might ask you during your interview. Here are some tips you can use to have a good company background research:

1) You can use the resources of the internet for your research. You may ask help from google or yahoo, if your company is commonly known you will not have hard time in searching because they are sometimes required to make some company information available to public.
2) You can also have a lot of friends who might know something about the company you are researching. Like for example your friends aunt is working as supervisor to the company you are researching then you can ask her some question about the company and that will be a big help.

What is a Panel Interview?

According to About.com, a panel interview is a type of interview where there are two or more interviewers. The main objective is to test the interviewee’s stress tolerance. It also aims to know how the interviewee will initiate an interaction with his future bosses and workmates should he get hired.

At any given point, a panel interview consists of multiple interviewers who belong to the different parts of the organization. They take turns in throwing questions to the interviewee. Questions here range from easy to difficult as there are more people that work together in squeezing out knowledge and information from the interviewee.

Although the frequency of getting a panel interview is little as one-on-one interviews are more common, it is highly advisable that a job seeker be prepared for this kind of interview.
